Divers Voices –The second edition of the Earth Charter Magazine brings together the voices of young leaders, educators, and senior professionals in higher education. The purpose of this magazine is to offer a space to share, through short articles, personal reflections, practical examples, research results or an experience implementing Earth Charter principles.

Girls’ Education – UNESCO has opened its call for nominations for the 2024 edition of the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education. This Prize rewards outstanding and innovative contributions made by individuals, institutions, and organisations to advance girls’ and women’s education. The Prize is conferred annually to two laureates and consists of an award of US $50,000 each to help further the winners’ work in this field. Submissions from the UK must come through the UK UNESCO National Commission and be received by Wednesday 24 April.

Earth Day Activity – The Transform Our World Youth Summit is taking place on Earth Day, Monday April 22nd . Youth Listening – The report on the second Sustainability and Environmental Education [SEEd] Youth Listening Project report is now available. Awareness to Action – Based on a 2023 OECD survey responses from 36 education systems and international policy analysis, this report explores how education systems can: 1) translate learners’ awareness into environmental action; 2) provide learners with experiences to shape the green economy; and 3) position education as a strategic sector for the green transition.

School Structures – A paper for the Curriculum Journal: Fostering teacher agency in school‐based climate change education in England, UK has been published. The Findings underline the importance of school structures (including school leadership) and culture (ideas and values) in fostering teacher agency in relation to climate change education.

Green Shoots – A Green Alliance report: Green shoots: growing the green workforce of the future explores problems and proposed solutions in engaging young people with the green economy. It draws on case studies from the UK and abroad.

School Trees – The Woodland Trust want to make sure everybody in the UK has the chance to plant a tree and they’re giving away hundreds of thousands of trees to schools and communities. More details here.

Green Space for All – The Conversation has an article on how simple changes can open up Britain’s green spaces so everyone can benefit from them. >400k – A recent report has revealed that over 400,000 songbirds were trapped and killed in Cyprus during the autumn of 2023, marking a surge in wildlife crime. The findings, compiled by BirdLife Cyprus with Support from the RSPB and the Committee Against Birds Slaughter (Cabs), shed light on an ongoing issue that threatens the region’s avian population.
