Students Organising for Sustainability [ SOSUK ] is presenting a range of activities at COP26. Here are the details:
- Wed 03 Nov – there is a Green Zone education exhibition called My Climate Reality. That is Bea from the Philippines and 4 others climate activists from other countries with VR footage of what it is like to be a young person living in a hostile climate. - Thu 04 Nov – Teach the Teacher will be presented to the Permanent Secretary of the Department for Education in their Gen Z COP26 classroom. It will be live-streamed to up to 10,000 schools.
- Fri 05 Nov – this is Youth Day, and there’s an event called What Does Meaningful Youth Leadership Look Like? in the Green Zone.
- Fri 05 Nov – The Education Ministers Summit in the UK Government pavilion in the Blue Zone, 4.00 – 5.30pm. Mock COP26 is the official youth partner, the other partners are the UK Dept for Education, the Italian Dept for Education and UNESCO. It’s hoped that there will be 50-60 countries present, each making a timed pledge on climate education.
- Fri 05 Nov – A student ‘action post COP’ discussion event is planned at Strathclyde University Students Association. This is for students’ unions from across the country, including banner making ahead of the Fridays for Future march later that day.
- Sat 06 Nov – this is Mass Movements day, and SOSUK will be supporting student union officers to take part. There is also the Student Hub at Strathclyde University Students Association, a space for meeting, networking, resting, leaving items.
- Mon 08 Nov – there’s a fringe event to launch the new Invest for Change investment manager commitment.
