The DfE-funded National Education Nature Park and Climate Action Awards aim to empower children and young people to make a positive difference to both their own and to nature’s future.  These free programmes aim to put nature at the heart of education by providing educators with support and guidance to give every learner in England the opportunity to develop a meaningful connection to nature, build skills for their future and contribute to nature recovery across the country.

The programmes have been developed by a partnership led by the Natural History Museum with the Royal Horticultural Society and Royal Society, supported by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), Manchester Metropolitan University, Learning Through Landscapes, the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology and the National Biodiversity Network Trust. Responding to the urgency of the climate and nature crises, the Department for Education’s Sustainability Strategy, is once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform the way we teach climate education and support young people to act and increase biodiversity across England.

From Wednesday 4 October, all schools, nurseries and colleges in England will be able to join the National Education Nature Park on a new website. They can celebrate the launch and get a taste of what the National Education Nature Park is all about by taking part in a Hidden Nature Challenge
