Country Profiles – The UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report and its Monitoring and Evaluating Climate Communication and Education project has produced 80 country profiles on strengthening climate change communication and education policies and practices.  Details here.

Track Change – A reminder that Teach the Future England’s Curriculum for a Changing Climate project has now completed the ‘tracked changes’ sustainability review of the primary national curriculum.  There is a launch webinar on Tuesday 26thMarch at 4pm. You will hear from students, teachers, and academics, and learn more about how the review can be used in schools.  A keynote will be delivered by Cindy Forde, the children’s author, activist, and entrepreneur.  Please register here.

Solar Cycles – The Harmony Project examines the cycles of Solar System in a new pack that features six geometry activities with step-by-step instructions and the resources useful for teachers to deliver them.

Eco Drama – For over 15 years, Eco Drama has been creating theatrical experiences and learning projects for children, young people and their communities.  Its work explores how we can use the transformative power of the arts, nature connection and outdoor education as a catalyst for social and environmental change.  Eco Drama’s theatre productions, outdoor learning projects, training courses and creative projects are delivered in schools, theatres, community venues and festivals throughout Scotland and beyond.  It has worked with over 96,000 children and young people and their communities to date, and is Scotland’s longest established ecological theatre company.

Inspiring Responses  – The St Andrews Prize for the Environment is a global initiative that identifies and champions innovative and inspiring responses to environmental challenges, including the climate crisis.  Now in its 26th year, the Prize was established by the University to reward and promote the most significant global contributions to environmental conservation and sustainable development.  Details here.

Water and Peace – March 22nd was World Water Day.  The day highlights the importance of freshwater across the world and promotes the sustainable management of freshwater resources.  Water is essential for all life and is the most abundant substance on Earth, yet water scarcity remains one of the biggest issues facing us today.  This year’s theme of World Water Day was ‘Water for Peace’.

Beinn MacDuibh – Cairngorms National Park has secured £10.7m in funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to fund its transformation into the UK’s first net-zero national park. The funding will support components of the Cairngorms 2030 strategic plan, which over five years will encompass 20 long-term projects working to achieve net-zero credentials as part of wider efforts to rewild the landscape. These include creating new woodlands, pioneering nature-friendly farming and green finance, expanding community engagement initiatives and prescribing nature on the NHS.  You can learn more here.

Membership Fees – At the 2023 AGM it was agreed that annual membership fees would be increased.  The new rates are:

Students – Free              UK Individuals – £25        UK Schools – £35             UK Universities – £45

Other Organisations:       UK- £35             Continental Europe – £45             Worldwide – £55

For some members, fees will automatically increase and no action will be required.  However, as this depends on the payment method, we’d ask members to please check that you are now paying the correct fee.  Thank you for your continuing, valued support of NAEE.
