Over 100,000 people have signed a petition in support of a ban on driven grouse shooting in the UK. Although NAEE is studiously neutral on what is a conservation issue not an educational one, we do understand that learning about the pros and cons of shooting as a conservation measure is important, and that getting a range of perspectives on what is a complex and controversial issue (perhaps even a wicked problem) is vital. So is sorting facts (if there are any) from emotion.
As such, the RSPB, the Moorland Association, the League Against Cruel Sports, and the Countryside Alliance might be useful places to start when thinking about how to approach this issue with learners. Then there are all those blogs ….
