6594359_mcs_logoThe Marine Conservation Society is promoting a scheme to put a deposit on plastic bottles.  It says:

Plastic is filling our oceans and littering our beaches.  It’s lethal to wildlife and is even entering our food chain. Worryingly, we don’t yet know the full effects this will have on us.  All of us need to take responsibility for plastic waste – and we have an opportunity to do something right now.  Please sign our petition asking the Welsh Assembly to urge Welsh Government to tackle the plastic problem.

If you want to see a Deposit Return System where people across Wales can return their bottles and cans and get their deposit back, please add your name.  Such systems have been known to reduce littering by 80%.  And if you’d like to see recyclable or fully compostable takeaway containers, please add your name. We use a staggering 19,000 takeaway cups PER MINUTE across the UK!

You don’t need to live in Wales to show your support – you can still click the sign petition button.  If we make progress in Wales, remaining UK governments may follow like they did with the carrier bag charge.
