Dinosaurs hold a particular fascination among young children.    This beautifully illustrated book will swiftly become a favourite for reading aloud to groups of early years pupils, with just a few words in large print on each page, which are dominated by the large, simple, colourful images of dinosaurs.

The book tells the story of a little girl’s yearning to have a dinosaur as a pet … she even has dinosaur costumes for her cat and teddy bears!  But the story combines this fantasy with actual facts about some dinosaur features that can be seen in some of today’s animals.  Lara, the heroine of the story, goes to her local museum to see the skeleton of a dinosaur, and finds out that really she doesn’t have to go further than her garden to find some animals with dinosaur-like features, which she decides are definitely more suitable as pets than a large, bony skeleton!

Early Years teachers will find the story useful for linking to the Knowledge of the World element of the curriculum, but parents will enjoy sharing this book with their young children too!
