Mock COP student staff are about to head to COP28 and will be running and participating in several events focusing on climate education. Some youth delegates from the Mock COP26 Summit and our Mock Education Ministers Summit will also be attending, sharing the Youth Statement on Quality Climate Education and the Mock COP26 treaty.

3 December

10:00-11:30: Youth advocating at local, national and international levels for climate action, at the DP World Pavilion Impact Hub (Green Zone). Workshop led by Mock COP staff: David OkenwaAmit SinghShreya K.C., Sofia Luna Quispe.  

Join campaigners from Mock COP to find out how youth can advocate for visionary policies and spark grassroots climate action. Youth campaigners will share their stories on advocating for climate education at local, national and international levels, equipping you with ideas and skills to engage a range of people.

5 December

15:15-16:15: Implementing youth-led solutions for a quality climate education, in the Al Maktaba Room, Greening Education Hub, Mobility Pavilion, Green Zone, hosted by Mock COP with Office for Climate Education and the MEECE Project. 

This event will showcase youth action towards quality climate education in order to raise ambition from world leaders to take action on climate education. We will provide examples from those influencing and doing this in practice, at a policy level and within the classroom. Young people, policy makers, educators, and practitioners will also share the opportunities they see to collaborate and accelerate climate education in their contexts, and the effective educational response they believe should be taken to climate change.

6 December

13:00-14:00: Raising ambition for quality climate educationin The Ghaf, Youth Hub, Green Zone, hosted by Mock COP. 

In this session, you will hear from youth leaders, educators, and education ministers on the outcomes of the virtual youth-led Mock Education Ministers Summit (Mock EMS) as they call for greater ambition from world leaders to take action on climate education, and share how young people and ministers have been collaborating to integrate climate into education.

8 December

10:45-12:15: Youth and Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE): capacity building for national level MER, in the Monash University Pavilion, hosted by the MECCE Project. 

Shreya K.C. will be sharing more about the youth statement on quality climate education. 

15:15-16:00: Youth raising ambition for quality climate education, at the RewirEd Summit, Connect Conference Centre, hosted by Mock COP. 

Through the Mock Education Ministers Summit, young people have been supported to meet and collaborate with their education ministers on climate education. This high-level dialogue will showcase the work of young people on this journey and ensure more ministers raise ambition for quality climate education and have the opportunity to collaborate with young people to integrate climate into education.
