The first issue of DfE’s Climate in Education Snapshot is now available.
DfE will send these updates to provide information on [i] what it is currently working on to make its strategy a reality; [ii] what is coming up soon; and [iii] how we can get involved with DfE.
The first includes a welcome from Rt Hon Nadhim Zahawi MP, Secretary of State for Education, information on the newly published Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy for the Education and Children’s Services Systems, and details of a market engagement day on 16 May to provide more information about the tender for the National Education Nature Park and Climate Leaders Award delivery partner.
The strategy includes two new initiatives to increase opportunities for climate education and access to nature:
- A Climate Leaders Award to complement classroom learning and allow us to celebrate and recognise education providers, children, and young people for developing their connection with nature and making a real contribution to establishing a sustainable future for all.
- A virtual National Education Nature Park, encompassing the whole physical education estate, to engage children and young people with the natural world and directly involve them in measuring and improving biodiversity in their education setting.
DfE is looking for a supplier, or group of suppliers, who have the necessary expertise and profile to develop this world- leading programme. The successful supplier will be responsible for delivery of the Park and Award, as well as a set of high-quality curriculum resources and targeted distribution of grant funding as it becomes available to ensure participation in the Park and Award. The supplier will be responsible for aligning all of these products and ensuring a coherent package for the sector.
