Here’s a blog post from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust on the importance of learning outside.
It begins:
It’s a myth to think that learning outside the classroom is ‘just play’ – we’ve seen first-hand how play helps children develop their social, emotional and physical skills.
Every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom. Whether it’s learning to co-operate to complete a task like finding a hidden treasure, learning to balance as they walk along a rope bridge, or developing the confidence to understand risks and danger and set the boundaries of their play area, outdoor learning is key to children – especially younger ones – developing well.”
