How can local empowerment transform communities?
Think Global is running two workshops to bring together NGOs and social economy initiatives – including Locality, Social Enterprise UK and Islamic Relief – to find new ways of empowering communities, creating sustainable livelihoods and sharing best practice. Think Global Programme Manager, Faaria Ahmad said:
“The Europe-wide, EC funded project called SUSY (SUstainability and SolidaritY), in which we are a partner, seeks to map and raise awareness about an alternative economic model, namely the social and solidarity economy (SSE), which can work positively towards poverty alleviation. Through these workshops a range of different organisations in this field will be able to learn from each other to make a bigger impact.”
The London workshop is already full, but there’s still space on the Portsmouth one on Friday 23 September. You can book online via Eventbrite. Although this is a Europe-wide programme, it doesn’t
seem to be a UK-wide one as, once again, Think Global is thinking only about the south of England.
