Energy Live News says that the UK economy saves more than £1 million a day because people cycle and walk – more than £7 billion in total since the National Cycle Network was created 20 years ago. It says that the savings have been made as a result of improved health and reduced congestion, pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, adding that physical inactivity costs the UK economy around £20 billion every year and air pollution kills 29,000 people a year.
