OMEP is an international NGO with Consultative Status at the United Nations and UNESCO. It was founded in 1948 to defend and promote the well-being and education of children from birth to eight. It welcomes as members everyone with an interest in the education and well-being of children and their families.
Members include practitioners, academics, students, teachers, policy makers, local authority staff, and professionals from a range of disciplines and we value the experience of those who are now retired. Parents and volunteers are particularly welcome.
OMEP’s focus on ESD can be seen here, and its work on a bat conservation project in the UK and Kenya (written by Paulette Luff, Zoe Miles and Cicilia Wangui) was featured in the latest edition of the Early Education Journal.
