The Woodland Trust [WT] is launching a new Charter in 2017 that will set out how woods, trees and people should benefit each other in the future.

To celebrate this event it is introducing a Tree Champion Challenge which is worth two Green Tree Schools Award points.

This challenge involves creating a woodland character, or champion, that will be used to promote the new Charter.

This is how it works:

  1. Use WT’s online resources below to get pupils thinking imaginatively and ask them to create their very own Tree Champion.
  2. Hold a competition in school and select the best Tree Cham
pion to represent your school at each Key Stage
  3. Submit your entry by entering your champion online and submitting the winning champion for each Key Stage. Follow the instructions on the form for sending a scan or photo of the worksheet featuring the illustration.

If your school is not already signed up to the Green Trees Schools Award, find out more, and register.
