The Guardian has an article that sets out to help new primary school teachers: “a few pointers to help you make the most of it.”

There are 10 points made which range from: No. 1 – get to know parents, to No. 10 – let go.  As might be expected, most are sensible and well-grounded in today’s classroom reality.

But that’s the trouble, classroom reality.  We really did think that somewhere in the top 10 there would be: take your students outside.  But no.  The Guardian’s back-to-school folk clearly don’t talk to its environment ones.  What a pity!  Such a missed opportunity.
