This year, Earth Day in April 22th.
Earth Day has a long history. It began in the USA in 1970, but is now an international phenomenon and you will find the Earth Day Network’s mission here. This begins:
“Earth Day Network’s mission is to broaden and diversify the environmental movement worldwide and to mobilise it as the most effective vehicle to build a healthy, sustainable environment, address climate change, and protect the Earth for future generations. Growing out of the first Earth Day, Earth Day Network is the world’s largest recruiter to the environmental movement, working with more than 50,000 partners in 196 countries to build environmental democracy. We work through a combination of education, public policy, and consumer campaigns. …”
The theme of Earth Day 2017 is “environmental and climate literacy“. The Earth Day Network says:
“Education is the foundation for progress. We need to build a global citizenry fluent in the concepts of climate change and aware of its unprecedented threat to our planet. We need to empower everyone with the knowledge to inspire action in defense of environmental protection. Environmental and climate literacy is the engine not only for creating green voters and advancing environmental and climate laws and policies but also for accelerating green technologies and jobs. …”

Party Earth has more detail, at least of events in London. NAEE wonders what you will be doing.
